I am looking to speak with a member of management in relation to a recent booking made through tripcentral.ca. For my cousin's upcoming wedding, I booked travel for my sister and I, we had to shorten our stay due to financial constraints in order to go. I was pleased to find a travel package in our range initially through your site and immediately booked to take advantage of the great package. I booked my travel and received confirmation that my booking had been complete (see attached for reference).
Unfortunately in my haste I misentered my email address and when I got around to rectifying it, to my dismay I discovered I no longer have flights for my booking! How is this possible?!! I was told I needed to provide confirmation after my purchase was completed via email (there was nothing to indicate that this was required to keep my flight booking anywhere in the booking confirmation after purchase). How is this a part of the process but not clearly stated on the screenshot provided? My phone number was provided - no attempt was made to contact me after my email bounced back or confirmation wasn't received on your end. I see it one of 2 ways; this was either a mistake on your end resulting in the cancelling of my booked and paid for flights, or there is an egregious error on part of your booking process - if this craziness is standard practice, this should be clearly listed in the grey section of the terms and conditions area - which I read thoroughly after booking (nothing outlines this process).
To add insult to injury, I had the representative on my call repeatedly interrupt me as I tried to explain this and work out a solution to get us to the destination. What I requested was an understanding of the breakdown of what the accommodation was versus the flight - this was not provided to me and I was told I'd have to wait for this information (I had already been on for an hour). My reason being was there were flights online for cheaper than what I was being quoted. I was told that the previous flight was "base economy" and this same flight is now "economy", hence the change in price. When I asked what the difference was it was explained to me that I could check a free bag and check in early with economy vs base economy, which might be accurate but as you can clearly see my original booking was economy and I know it included a checked bag (this is something I specifically looked at as we are travelling for a wedding and we are females). So either way smoke was being blown in order to get me to agree to pay an additional $359.96 per person for the travel I had already booked. As I mentioned earlier, we are already on a tight budget and an extra $720 isn't doable. When I said that to the agent (Renee is her name x725 for reference) she told us well we either lose the booking all together because there are no refunds or pay the extra. I then asked to speak with a manager, she stated "I am the only one here" and when I asked again, I was transferred to a Katherine 332-203-0509 also x725 who said she was a manager. She also explained to me how we arrived here, which I understood but clearly do not agree with. As I calmly tried to speak my point of view I was interrupted again several times. Now I have been in the customer service industry for 15 years, and basic training would state that allowing the customer to speak and finish their thought, is the best approach to de-escalating a situation or at minimum allowing the customer to feel heard - not constantly interrupt the customer to hold the company line. Very frustrating.
At some point she said the price for booking the same flights originally booked would be $275.96 per person, so clearly there is some ability to rectify things but then I once again received the strong arm of - you have to book this or your travel booking is void. To see an investment of 3k flushed is not something I am willing to do. It is just so very disappointing to have this outcome - I tried to explain this to Katherine, who eventually said she would issue a credit for future travel in the amount of $551.92 ($275.96per person) which could be used upon completion of the current travel. Why this couldn't be issued to solve the current issue is beyond me - I get you want me to spend more money with you but this is a very backward approach. I would be much more inclined to return my business to tripcentral if I felt like my concerns were listened to and addressed, not disregarded and brushed aside. I am honestly so upset about this whole experience. You know what, if I am not contacted within a reasonable window from a decision maker at tripcentral, I will take my experience to the better business bureau and to social. I am not one to typically do this but I'm so disgusted by the entirety of it all.
….
So that recounts the details of me thinking I was dealing with tripcentral when actually it was this other scammer company, flights assist. What I anticipated I would receive is the booking of a new flight and a travel voucher - neither have been fulfilled. I was outright lied to about what happened with my original booking, it was fine all along.
