I was an [censored], but they should be shut down. I googled American Airlines platinum desk phone number and got 800-587-2879 which was NOT the legit number, but a shady company I later learned was travelobay.com. They took my record locator and insisted I had to pay them a change fee of $430 to change my tickets back to what they were before American messed up some flights. It was so ridiculous, I should have known, but I continued to fight with "Neil" and his supervisor "George Smith" who both had thick Indian accents. Finally the supervisor said he would waive my cancellation fee and cancel my ticket all together. These were tickets for my in-laws to join 5 of us on a connecting flight, so I called them, and explained the situation. The told me to cancel and they would drive, so I did. Thankfully the tickets were NOT cancelled and I was able to call American Airlines, tell them what had happened, get the flights back to their original itinerary, and put passwords on the record locators, but I do not want anyone else to fall victim. I am sure they would have happily taken my money. Other phone numbers they gave me were "Neil's" direct line: 855.882.0072 and his caller ID when he called me back was (619) 349-4915.
