On April 17th, 2024, I booked airline tickets for travel from Washington DC to Munich and Dusseldorf, and back. While booking, I believed I was dealing directly with ********* Airlines. As my travel plans were uncertain, I specifically wanted fully refundable tickets with no limitations. I called the phone number 833-563-0295 listed on the website and spoke with a representative at 8:48 am. The representative assured me multiple times that my tickets were fully refundable and that I would receive a full refund if needed.
After booking, I received an email with my itinerary and confirmed that the ticket details were correct while on the phone with the representative. However, the email stated that the tickets were non-refundable. When I questioned this over the phone, the agent reiterated that it was a standard email and assured me my tickets were fully refundable. I paid $3,839.80 for the tickets. The email following the booking indicated I would have two charges: $2,493.10 and $1,346.70. I indeed received two charges, one for $1,346.70 from ****** Airlines and $2,493.10 from Traveltx (https://traveltxs.net, Travel TXS 3 Pine Tree Dr, Westampton, NJ 08060, ****** States -- this information I found while my own investigation, I've never visited this page while booking the tickets) I was not suspicious as my flight was operated by different airlines.
I received two reservation codes: ****** from ********* and ****** from ****** Airlines. The agent told me I could reach out directly to the number 877-363-1120 if I needed to cancel my tickets.
On May 24th, when I needed to cancel my tickets, I called that number and was told that my tickets were not refundable and I would not get a full refund. The agent suggested a partial refund, which would be processed after three billing cycles. This raised my suspicion as I had never experienced such a long refund process. I then emailed the address I had received my tickets from, but it bounced back. The email was [email protected]. After googling flightbookdesk.com, I realized it was a scam organization. I assume that the confirmation over the email that all the flight details were correct serves the scammers as proof of consent in future disputes with the banks.
I called my bank and disputed the $2,493.10 charge from Traveltx, but I was informed I might not get my money back as the scammers have documents that state I agreed to the terms. I then contacted ****** Airlines, and they confirmed that the ticket was booked on their website for $1,346.70, which was the actual charge for the ticket. ****** Airlines kindly refunded this amount. However, they had an email address on file, [email protected], which is not mine and is likely used by the scammers.
The airlines could not confirm the scammers' location but stated the tickets were bought on their website, which I had not visited. This information can be verified with ****** Airlines, which has refunded their part. However, I was charged $3,839.80 (two charges) and another from Traveltx, which I want to dispute and report as a scam.
I ask to help to investigate this matter as the scammers are mirroring the phone numbers and webpages of established companies, stealing identities, and reselling tickets they book with airlines. I did not authorize flightbookdesk.com to act on my behalf nor intended to pay this unknown company any money.
As my bank is still reviewing the transaction from Traveltxs charged on 04.17 for $2,493.10, and with ****** Airlines refunding $1,346.70, my bank agent informed me that it is highly unlikely I can recover the remaining amount from the scammers. I need assistance in resolving this issue.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
