Booked one night at Holiday Inn Express Ottawa West on Trivago for December 31, 2024 , best price/offer on Trivago was with Agoda. Selected book room, and my card was charge $219.00 through a company named Algotel . Checked into hotel and was told by front desk that the reservation had been cancelled on December 26, 2024 by a company called Booking Holdings Inc. I was not notified by Agoda, Algotel or Booking Holdings Inc that the booking was cancelled ,Checked my credit card and my card had not been refunded. Hotel staff gave me a printed copy showing the cancellation, made by Booking Holdings so I could contact them . Desk staff told me that this happens a lot and he always feels bad for guests who get scammed. I called number on sheet, no answer, emailed address provided but no reply. I ended up having to pay Holiday Inn Express directly for the room to avoid having no place to sleep for the night.
