Treasury Department Reports & Reviews (44)

- Las Vegas, NV, USA

I received a call from someone claiming to be from the Treasury Dept, their phone number was 206-451-5274. They stated I was eligible to receive $1,500. However they said I would need to pay $250 upfront. I knew this was not how these types of things were done. I called the Treasury Department (at a verified number) and reported it to their office. They said they would look into the information.

Someone claiming to be the Treasury Dept and IRS called me and said a warrant would be out for my arrest and I would have to pay as much $7,500.00.

- Barnhart, MO, USA

I received a phone call from Kevin Miller at 734-345-1463. He said he was with the Treasury Department and was calling about a court hearing and my possible arrest. He did not ask for money or give me a dollar amount.

- Chicago, IL, USA

I got a recorded message from a restricted number saying that there was a pending federal fraud case against me and the recording said her name and read off her badge or id # and said that I had to call (626) 239-7451 to avoid being arrested along with additional fines.

Here is a copy of the Voice Mail received

Voicemail from (202) 733-6948

"Is regarding an enforcement action which has been executed by the US treasury department regarding tax fraud against your name. Ignoring this will be an intentional attempt to avoid initial appearance before the magistrate judge or exempt jury for a federal criminal offense so before this matter goes to Federal Claims Court house or before you get arrested. Kindly call us back on our number as soon as possible. The number to reach us is 202-733-6948. Let me repeat the number 202-733-6948. Hope to hear from you soon before the charges are pressed against you. Thank you."

This information is being reported on behalf of a senior consumer without internet access.

This person claiming to be with the IRS and treasury department by the name of James Kasten. Claiming I will be charged with w felony if I do not respond. Seems extremely illegal to represent yourself as a government entity when you are not.

Called and said he was from the treasury department and my husband was chosen out of 1,500 people in the area because he have no criminal record and have not filed bankruptcy and also currant on taxes that he will receive $7,800 from them and there is 3 ways I can choose to receive the money. I can choose western union, a credit card or my bank account. I chose western union and he gave me a confirmation number and a phone number he gave me to call 206.745.0810 the phone number he called from 512.648.9732. He had a very thick ascent and sounded like he was on a cell phone. I did not give any information out but im sure it is a scam.

631-318-8369 Received a call from this phone number alleging that I owed the Treasury Department money and if I didn't call back I would be arrested. I recognized this as a scam and I did not call them back so they could extort money from me.

- Post, TX, USA

I have received a phone call from a guy named Austin from the Treasury Department. Claiming there was law enforcement activity against me. Told me to get my taxes taken care of and to get a lawyer or I would be arrested. He was a foreigner and asked me to contact him to take care of the matter.

- Beloit, WI, USA

Received call telling me that I owe taxes from the Treasury Department. I've been on disability for years and file a different type of tax form so I knew this was a scam.

- Santa Ana, CA, USA

Speaking in a non- American accent. The US government has selected you out of 1500 people in your area to give $7500. All you do is pick up your money at Western Union. Once at Western Union they ask to call a number and they say did you bring the cover money of about $240 to transfer the money. They are targeting disabled and single parents with student loans.

- Franklin, OH, USA

I keep getting a recorded phone message from a person names "David Grey" claiming they're from the Treasury Department. These are threatening messages I get about 3 times a day.

They give me a number to call (1-937-249-9069)

These calls are very disturbing.

- Charlotte, NC, USA

The caller stated they were from the Treasury Department calling me regarding a pending grand jury action against me. In the background you can hear others on the phone making the same call, so it's not part of the government. The caller warned that if action were not taken immediately I would be prosecuted. When connected to their "agent" I asked their name and they hung up. The same number called again minutes later. This time it was the "supervisor" at the Treasury Department who warned that by not cooperating with them I was going to be subpoenaed by a grand jury and prosecuted. I asked which division of the Treasury Department he represented, he became indignant and demanded I answer his questions. Both callers had a heavy Indian or Pakistani accent. I hung up because I know of no agency in the Government who calls and demands information or threatens prosecution. The number that calls is 765-274-4559. The street address is in Indiana, but a Google Map search of the address shows a field on a farm. Because I had their number, I used my cell phone (after changing the setting to not display my phone number) to call them. They answer the phone (it's the number they give you to call them back to discuss how you can avoid prosecution).

- Louisville, KY, USA

I received a phone call today about a government grant for $9,000 and that I had to pay $230 to receive it. She said I would need to go to Walmart and get a MoneyGram.
