I was "hired" on at this company for an administration assistant position. We went through an entire interview process and alleged background check before I was told I was hired. It was a hybrid job role, so all of this was done through emails and text messages with the "office manager". Further conversations were with someone claiming to be the COO for the company. I was welcomed to the team and was told that I would receiving an e-check to pay for the remote work materials. That check was flagged by my bank for fraud. I then informed the COO and asked for a physical check. I was mailed a check that I deposited into my bank account and used for the supposed materials. This was done through cashapp and venmo to 2 individuals. I was given specific amounts with a reason for each one- which at the time I assumed was for record keeping. A couple days after I had submitted these payments I checked my bank account to see that the check was refunded from my account for fraud, and my personal account was now flagged for fraudulent activity. This also means that the money spent, $1650, was taken from my personal funds. I discussed the matters with a bank representative, who assisted me with filing a fraud case against the charges, as well as providing all information about the people I was allegedly interacting with regarding this job. I am still waiting to hear back from my bank to see if I will be able to get the money back, but there is no guarantee I will get the $1650 back. I had communicated to the COO that the funds had been refunded and that my bank had suspected fraud. He did not respond to that information. When I messaged him again regarding the message, he only stated that he was "working the financial department to resolve the issue". He also completely ignored my concerns and requests to meet at the office location. The office manager also ignored my text and call. The last communication I had was regarding a third check that was mailed to me. I brought the check to my bank for reporting purposes, and had it added to the fraud case. Each check received had been for a different amount, and was from a different company or individual that was not a part of this company or team. I have yet to receive any of the "materials" I paid for. I have also now gone 2 weeks without pay and never even started the "training" process. This has been an absolute nightmare and potentially being out $1650, on top of 2 weeks of no pay, has put an toll on me and my family.

I applied for the job listing on indeed.com. it was listed under administrative assistant for the company tree of life seeds on March 22, 2024. I received a text message on may 29th 2024 saying they were reaching out for the position and would like to interview me. They asked for my email address to email me details. The emails were from a verifiable name Amy love office manager of the company and the email address seemed legit. I was sent a questionnaire regarding the position. I filled it out and waited for additional information. Over the course of a week, the emailed me to say they accepted my application and interview Questionnaire and sent a document for information on a background check. I filled it out with all info requested, including my social security number and Driver's license number. The next day I received a phone message and text saying that I was hired and to check my email for more details. I then had questions about the position and looked up the number to the office to speak with Amy. It was a different number from the one that had been texting me, and they informed me that the job posting was a scam. I texted the number that had been communicated with me and asked for them to call me because I had questions. They informed me that the IT coordinator will answer all questions during my onboarding. I have not contacted the scam email or text any further.
