I emailed this ad, and got a response back from Tricia Altman. She asked for my phone number and wanted to discuss my options... So after a 15 minute phone call she stated that she could help me. She offered me a loan of 12k with 5% interest for 48 months. I also did some questions of how she became a private lender etc... and between phone call and email it had seemed that she came into a settlement, and had way more than enough money, were her exact words and wanted to help people...
She stated she would email an application for me to fill out and get back to her. I was leery about this transaction in the first place because she made a statement about a "Non Collateral Fee" - and general rule of thumb for a loan is you do not pay a fee up front, but being in a desperate situation and not having many options I agreed to pay the $300.00 non Collateral Fee. She stated that usually this fee is $500.00 but because she felt for my situation it was only $300.
So The email I receive along with the application attached...... "Hi ------------
It was very nice talking with you. It gives me great pleasure helping out other people I am always thankful for what I have. You have to have the feel good feeling everyday. I can hear that through your voice. Here is your application please fill it out get it back to me and look for your contract also within the next few hours and I will send an invoice requesting the $300 non collateral fee also around 5PM.

Well a few hours went by as I have a family, and was busy doing other things that I had not had a chance to check my email... So I get another Email from Tricia " Hi ---------
I want to make sure you received the application. let me know ok
i didn't receive your email address for paypal ...i will be sending you your contract after i receive your application.....just sign the contract and just send it back to me ok. I will do a invoice via paypal. for the amount of $300.00.

I started to get this weird feeling about all of this..... and started asking more questions back and forth through email and even mentioned being scammed etc... a Few emails later she stated that "Im not going to twist anyones arm to take my money, I just have to cover myself as far as insurance etc goes... Because I even mentioned about Why Do i have to pay a fee for a loan.... Still hesitant about this whole thing I do not really have any other choice... due to the emergency situation... I also looked into her name online etc, and through this site I find one other Scam reported with her name and similiar scenarios.. but it never said if the transaction was completed, just stated funding was in a few days.... so i do not know if it is actually a scam based on the record I found here on BBB
Fast Forward---- Application Signed, Sent back with a copy of my drivers license.... at 6:24pm - Contract Sent back to me at 7:36pm Signed, all terms there, seems legit...
She states that I need to sign it and send it back- so I did
Tricia states she has sent me the invoice for the "Non collateral Fee" - Never recieved it... This is where she started to get RUDE. She states she has sent it multiple times... (Now I know she has not because I am familiar with the way paypal works... )
My email to her:

VERY RUDELY she writes back...
"No you didn't send me the right EMAIL address....please take care of this transaction right away "
So I went back and researched through my email to see if infact I gave the wrong email address..... and Replied back to her
"Actually I went back and looked through my emails and I did send you the correct email address the first time... attached is the picture where I stated "sounds great my PayPal email Is and my email was the right email there too" - I have DOCUMENTATION OF ALL OF THIS
So the next Morning ( We are in DAY #3 of this Fiasco) - She replies back kind as pie that she went in and resent the invoice...
Calls me 2x back to back asking why the invoice isnt paid... I stated that I was working on things.... She created a sense of urgency due to the storm and living in florida... and wanted to get all her paperwork done to her accountant for this loan before the storm hits....
Well I start emailing her some very detailed questions BECAUSE SOMETHING DOESNT FEEL RIGHT.
"I have a question, In printing all these emails, contract, craigslist ad for my own files and making sure I have everything, the Craigslist ad says 6% interest and also says funds up to a 25 year duration, but yet that option was not even discussed with me... and the paypal invoice came in but it shows Xterm Heavy Hauling LLC I thought you said you didn't have a business? But having a LLC listed on a paypal invoice means that you have had to verify that through paypal. Like I said I am totally curious but those things caught me off guard when filing my paperwork so I have everything organized.

She Replies back.... "I hope I answered your questions ....I have not yet received anything from paypal saying you have made payment. Let me know please Trying to get everything together before this Hurricane hits us down here ....I need to get all loans into the bank today.
I have had a few problems before with Borrowers using paypal their payment goes on hold because they don't have the funds this why I use paypal ...if the payment goes on hold I wont be able to fund you until the hold is lifted. and that isn't for 21 days. "
NOW I KNOW SHE IS LYING.... Because Paypal can hold funds...but if you are a verified account or you as the buyer call and release the transaction paypal will not hold it....
So I start calling her to the carpet on this.... I pay the Invoice... Send an email "Invoice Paid 11:05 am on 9/6/2017 of $300.00"
and All of a sudden DEAD SILENCE... She was so quick to reply then Nothing.. I send numerous emails asking if she received payment and that I have talked to paypal and funds are not on hold at all....
(MEANWHILE I HAVE CALLLED PAYPAL AND THEY HAVE STATED THEY HAVE MY BACK ON THIS)
Tricia Emails Me back Finally "Forwarding you an email from PayPal ...it will under [email protected]
Follow the direction ,..so the funds will be released in 3days ..ok "
Paypal had already sent me an email stating "The seller adding shipping info" - Paypals email specifically states DO NOT CONFIRM THIS TRANSACTION COMPLETE UNTIL YOU HAVE GOODS IN HAND.
EMAIL TRAFFIC BEGINS AGAIN SEE BELOW:
So Now I reply back- "There are no directions other than to mark the shipment completed once received and not to confirm it until it has been received as described and never received the fwd fromyou... And do we have a confirmation for the loan transfer"
My 2nd Email to her - So do we have a confirmation of the loan being sent as asked in a previous email? Because there is nothing to be done on the pay-pal side as I have now talked to pay-pal twice today, and since I own a business account and a 10 year longevity with them and their specific instructions are Once the transaction is completed and you received the goods or services by the seller that then and only then can I ethically click completed shipment. I even uploaded the contract to pay-pal as well so that the rep had it on file... So When we spoke on the phone earlier there was confirmation of the loan being sent? I still have not received any forwarded email from you from pay-pal.

My Email back - "Okay What about confirmation of loan? You stated you wanted to get this taken care of today so that everything was done prior to the storm."
Tricia Reply - "Yes I have been busy with my house ...sorry ...I have a lot to do ...everything is ok I just have to wait on the funds ...just read the emails"
My Reply: "No this is not a matter of waiting on the funds, Paypal has confirmed the funds have been sent to you and payment has cleared and the payment is NOT on hold for any reason, you assured me that you would send confirmation of the loan, and yet you tell me that paypal has other instructions for me... No they do not I have spoken with them directly.... I have done my part in this, and yet you have told me there are emails you have to fwd me from paypal, and would give confirmation of the loan.... Those were your exact words I understand your preparing for your house, but you have been super quick to respond up until I issued the money via the invoice to you, now im just being told to read the emails... (And attached is VERBATIUM of the PAYPAL email to me included)

So I did not hear anything back last night, and have asked numerous times... Do we have a confirmation that the Loan has been processed and Sent? Per your own words you said you would provide a confirmation. We have already gone through the Paypal NOT needing anything else until it has been recieved part... I understand it takes 3 days to appear in account, but that is not what I am discussing, you said you would provide confirmation that the loan has been issued.... So can you please send me confirmation ?
Tricia Reply- "Yes ...sorry just been busy getting my house ready for the storm ...3-5 business days."
Me- And again... Confirmation? 3-5 business days is not an actual confirmation
Tricia- Yes ...you get you funding ...$12k ...yes sorry just really busy ..
( SIDE NOTE... HURRICANE DOES NOT HIT UNTIL FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY... and this is THURSDAY)
ME - "That is still not confirmation. I understand being really busy I get that and I am understanding.. but you wanted everything done on my side with Urgency, and yet now you are not providing the documentation you said you would provide ( These were YOUR words)... a screen shot to show the loan transfer to the correct account, a Transfer confirmation something that is actual Documentation ( Because EVERY bank provides a transfer confirmation) .... again... You stated you would provide this info.... You have not provided it... I have done my part of this... and in a reasonable amount of time, you continue to just say Yes 12k. 3-5 business days... That is not Actual documentation...... I have asked for confirmation documentation (Not just an email) now over 6 times.... but yet you wanted my side of this done with a sense of urgency...."
Tricia- Do you not have a contract ...I have no made any transfer once it is done ...I will send a copy of the transfer ...now with that said you are not the only one I am funding ... My accountant has your application and your contract ...I will fund you 3-5 business days ...I don't what you don't understand ...you have a contract ...explaining everything ...
Me - The problem I am having is you stated on the phone that you wanted to get these done yesterday so you could go ahead and do bank funding Yesterday so that you did not have to worry about it, and told me that if i got it done yesterday that you would be working on your end yesterday... so your absolutely right there is something I am not understanding... Your words based on what you have said... I understand the contract states will be funded within 3-5 business days... but per your own words to me yesterday so that you could do what you needed to do on your end so you had everything done.. and that it would be in account within 3-5 days...... So your absolutely right this is not making sense...
Tricia - Listen I have transfered any money yet ... My accountant has your info ...it is being put in the system ...and yes you will get everything ...It is very simple ...you sent me your application and then I sent you your contract you sent your non collateral fee ......now understand this you are not the only one I'm finding ...the reason that I wanted all this done quickly is because we have a hurricane coming and I need everyone's info on my system because if it hadn't it would take longer to find you once electric is back on ...now that you are going into the system ...the funding should still be on schedule ...you are making way to hard ...for your self ...as I said you are not the only one I am funding ....
ME- Ok, thank you. Please be safe and that means I should see it in my account by Wednesday (9/13/2017).
Because it was done this Wednesday so next Wednesday would be business day 5.
TRICIA- Listen I am under a hurrcaine Warning and very bad storm right now as I said you are not the only one I am funding ...as long as the banks are open and there is power yes ... ( SEPTEMBER 9) WAS LAST COMMUNICATION
ME - and as I said... Be careful and thank you.... just going by what the contract stated was not being rude... 5 business days was the maximum which is why i clarified... I understand being in the storm we have had to evacuate my 75 year old grandparents so i get the severity of it and did say be careful.
BY THIS POINT I AM SO FRUSTRATED THAT I DECIDE TO LET THIS 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS PLAY OUT... MIND YOU I AM NOW STRUGGLING DUE TO STILL BEING IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION.... AND NOW HAVING TO HAVE PAID THIS FEE....
I emailed on 9/11/2017 to ensure safety to her family and weathered the storm....

9/12/2017 - I also texted her as well... because giving benefit of doubt maybe power was out...
it is not 9/13/2017 - Funding should have happened yesterday WEdnesday.... woke up this morning still no word from her and no funding, and at this point I am now losing everything that I needed the funding for hence EMERGENCY funding... and Really now in a bind...
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT RIGHT...
AND I WANT NOT ONLY RESOLUTION, BUT THE LOAN I WAS PROMISED AND SIGNED A CONTRACT FOR.
