Tropical Smoothie Cafe in New Braunfels (not open yet) had a job posting on Glassdoor that described a data entry job for $44,500/year and mentioned in the add that knowledge of “high end clothing” and “high end fashion brands” would be a benefit. When searching by job title “data entry” for Tropical Smoothie Cafe, there are 4+ similar postings in various cities across the U.S., all of them with the same wording that knowledge of “high end clothing” and “high end fashion brands” would be a benefit to the position. I called the phone number associated with the Tropical Smoothie Cafe in New Braunfels on Google, and a man named *** answered. He identified himself as the owner of the Tropical Smoothie Cafe and mentioned that it is not yet open. I asked him about the data entry posting and why it mentioned fashion, and he was evasive, eventually saying that he should get that taken down because although he IS hiring for the cafe, he’s not hiring for data entry. When I asked again about why it would mention fashion, he told me I should ask corporate about it. I asked him for the phone number for Human Resources at the corporate office in Georgia, and he said no. I called the basic phone number online for Tropical Smoothie Cafe and was told that I could not be transferred to Human Resources, but the person on the phone took down my information as a comment/complaint (I explained the job posting to them.) Tropical Smoothie Cafe has no dealings with fashion or high end fashion, and as the owner of a Tropical Smoothie Cafe associated to one of these job postings directly said that he was not actually hiring for this position, I believe these job postings are either scams or a front for some other business.
