No money was requested, but I think they would have tried it if the scam had gotten that far. Received a cold text from "Heather Wright" who claimed to be the HR Assistant at Trotter Biotech Solutions. The text read, "Good morning! I'm contacting you in regards to your job application on LinkedIn. We're happy to invite you to interview for the position of a Data Entry Clerk, working remotely with a pay of $27 per hour. Please send your resume to my email [email protected] if you're interested in this poisition and I'll forward the full job description to you. Best Regards, Heather Wright HR Assistant Trotter Biotech Solutions." It was suspicious for several reasons: 1) I had not applied to that company through LinkedIn, 2) the website seemed only to be a link to PDF with no information on it, 3) I could find no connection between the name "Heather Wright" and the company name, 4) it seemed unusal to ask for a resume BEFORE providing a job description, 5) I couldn't find really any information about the company online, and 6) my resume is already on LinkedIn, so why would I need to send it to them directly. I did not answer the text. I sent an email instead, from a throwaway Gmail address, asking nicely for the job description before I sent them my resume. I never heard back. (I wasn't expecting to.)
