In May of 2021 I meet Troy Planter along with one of his workerJames. Troy Planter presented himself as a licensed General contractor, plumber and James as an engineer. I later met Mike who was presented as the one who would work on my bathrooms as far as tile work. I found out Troy was not who he said he was after the team had torn my house apart and several items did not look right. He was not a licensed residential contractor nor was he a plumber. I gave the team several chances to fix my house and put things back. They always had an excuse or delays in what they were doing. COVID, injury, worker no shows and so foth. Ffnally put them out if my house and tried to get my money back from my bank. They initially returned the funds. However they took the funds from me citing so kind of law that states they cannot return the funds if it is outside of a certain window. However, i did nit kniw thia and I believe Troy knew if he delayed doing the work he would eventually keep my funds. Another thing that should have been a red flag that I npw know after the fact is that he did not have me pay the same way each time. One time he told me that his account was down and could I pay him through another means. He would always come up with a list of materials and go to the store during my work hours. I would ask him for a list of materials ip feont he would ignore the request show up to the store and call me. If I didn't answer he woud send a text and say he teied to contact me abd then at times not come work on my house. His teips to Lowes were continous

I have had to repay people who were willing to put my house back together. Since Troy had used most of my savings and ran up my credit cards for material and so forth, i did not have the funds or means to do the work all over again at once.

It has taken me several months to: #1 fund anyone who is willing to come behind them and fix what they messed up.

#2 The hack job Troy did included structural damage and plumbing issues that I am still dealing with to this day.

#3 I have hired several people trying to peice my house back together in order to get it at least liveable.

#4 I have also missed time at work and revenue on top of having to figure out how to repurchase all the material that he used. I am still not sure if the material he purchased is what was used in my house.

#5 i had to take apart the work in the bathroom they completed. The people who took it a part went on record as to the shody job with just the tile placement.

#6 I have someone else who came fixed the two doors and windows. I also have pictures of rhe cut that was done to the brick and so forth. I later found out was incorrect. The framing was incorrect windows and doors.

#7 The plumbing was incorrect with hot water going to the toilet which could have caused my toilets to explode. The drains were stuffed full of debris feom demo because they we r e not covered.. Still to this day when I flush my toilet there is a rumbling sound in my bathtub. When I put water down my tub drain the toilet drains. I have had plumbers come out. They gave not been able to fix it

#8 I still I kniw know part of contract scam is slto tell the homeowner to buy the material themselves and to tell then to go pull their own permits to save money

#9 I also now know the state of Florida has a loophole in their laws that allow these people to exist because the homeowner is blamed for not checking to make sure about liscense. However there are several loopholes that I have uncovered dealing with my home that is prevelant in Escambia County .

There are over 100 people on social media right now. I can't rob a store without going to jail and I can't set up a dental office without being a dentist and not go to jjail.why in the construction industry are people allowed to do this.

Why are these people allowed to do this over, over and be in less trouble than someone who has any other liscence. Presenting onself as someone that they are not should have serious consequences under law. Construction can be dangerous is someone goes to far.

During the proceess I tried to work with them to the point that we were actually trying to help them install items we had paid them to install and taking people home from my house because they were going to be stuck overnight. In the end it was all a scam with work not completed to Florida or County code and me left holding the bag. Troy even went as far as to ask for the final payment for work not completed. This is not the first time he has done something like this. I have found at least one or 2 more victims and he allegedly has cases pending or finishing is south Carolina and her in pensacola florida for defrauding people ok e through investments and real estate transactions
