There was a charge in the AirPods when they were received, however once they needing charging, there is no cord that will work. Ad didn’t mention a special cord was required but the 844# that I called said there was; but was unable to tell me how to secure one. Should have known better. Lesson learned.

I got roped into this by being asked to do a customer satisfaction survey for Verizon. I was told I would get a pair of Apple Airpods for free just pay for shipping. The computer went from a Verizon-looking screen to some third party site pedaling cheap Chinese knock-offs. I finished the transaction entering my credit card information. Then a screen came up offering me a cheap knock-off Fit-bit wanna-be for $9.99. I now knew this was a total scam and bailed out, but it was too late. They billed the $7.83 for the "shipping" of the ear pods, and $9.99 for the watch separately. I did receive the cheap ear pods but not the watch. Then I got hit for the $109 fee as my "trial" expired, whatever that was. While truesoundpods was the company that was consumer facing, the money actually went to something called getmjcnutritionshop.com, as San Franscisco-based purveyor of very suspect nutritional products. It's principal is Maanav Jolly Crest LLC. These guys need to be arrested and their houses burned down.

My experience is the same. The survey came from CenturyLink and there was no mention of trials or other costs. The charge of $109 was not mentioned. What recourse do we have?

We got an email that said, "Costco has a surprise for you". Being Costco shoppers we clicked on the link and were brought to a survey that asked questions about our Costco experience. We filled out the survey and were then lead to a page to claim our prize. Each price had a "Regular Price" and a "Your Price Today". We clicked on a pair of Ear Pods (knock-off Air Pods) that we only had to pay $9.98 for. We filled out the information and hit submit and sure enough we were only checked $9.98. Well, about 15 days later we had a charge from the same place for 109.88. When I called to ask about it they told me that according to the Terms and Conditions the purchase of the Ear Pods initiated a Trial period where if we liked the Ear Pods we could keep them and they would charge us the full price or if we didn't like them we had to send them back. I looked through all of the documentation and NO WHERE did it mention anything to that nature. Also, all of the web sites provided are all dead links and don't actually lead anywhere. The charge on our bank account did have a name and phone number that I was able to track to https://www.ordermkconlinestore.com/.

When I called I spoke with someone who had a strong non-english speaking accent so I kind of knew I was dealing with a call center that had been hired by whoever was running this operation. I explained the situation and how I did not authorize the second charge and asked for them to delete my card info from their system. They told me that they could not refund me the charge but they could give me back $30, when I pushed back they said $50. I said "No, we didn't authorize the charge I want 100% back". They then put me on a brief hold, came back a couple of minutes later and told me that they would credit me back $40 (less than what they told me prior haha). I then told them that I was going to report the charge as fraudulent to my bank and I hung up. Well, they called me back and I was told again that they could refund the charge if I shipped the product back but that I would need to pay a $19.99 restocking fee. I said "No" again, reiterated that I was just going to report the charge as fraud and then they told me they would refund me 100%. We'll see in a couple of days if that actually happens. If not I will certainly be reporting it. I'd rather not though so I don't have to go through the hassle of replacing the card!

Same thing happened to me, except survey was for Walmart. Tried to only refund $40, but I too told them I would claim fraud if not refunded all of the $109.88. Received email confirmation that account had been closed and amount refunded. Mow waiting for it to be reflected in my account. Charges to my account came from JR Brand Group. Phone number my bank gave me for them was 1-877-735-3204.
