I (my small business) was contacted by email about performing some fall cleanup / mowing / weeding work. The client, Randy Stephens, said they were moving into the property at 1900 Monroe NW, Grand Rapids, MI and would like the property cleaned up before moving in. I scouted the property, provided pictures and a quote. Randy accepted the quote and I performed the work. I sent pictures of the finished product and then I exchanged these next emails. They're seemingly trying to get me to bounce a check and pay them cash.

Additionally, I'll include extra funds 2700 to cover payments for the plumber and the tile installer who'll also be working on the property this coming week. I'll provide details for each amount and the contact information for the plumber and tile installer to make it as smooth as possible. Thank you so much for your help with this

My reply - Good morning, Randy. It's not a great idea to pay the plumber and everyone through me, that will mess up my accounting for taxes and such. If you can do just the payment for the landscaping, that would be great. Thank you.

I understand your concerns with handling payments for the other handymen, but unfortunately, they don't have bank accounts, which is why I wanted to go through you as a trusted intermediary. If you could help disburse the extra payments, I'd be grateful and would add an additional $100 for your assistance. I hope this helps cover any inconvenience on your end, and I'd still keep our payments documented separately for your records. Please let me know if this can work, and I'll get everything processed as soon as possible.

I quit responding after this exchange of emails. I only performed a few hours of work and paid for an assistant to help me with the labor. No money was exchanged between Randy and I. He did ask for my address for sending the check.
