Was trying to rent a car in Seattle Washington for a trip in Sept. I called and they said that they were running a promotion with Green Dot pre paid card and that the only way that I could get the promotion was to purchase a Green Dot pre paid card. I needed to put a $200 deposit down and the card was to be the amount of $275, $25 a day for three days. When I purchased the card and called back with the card information they claimed that there was a glitch and that I needed to get another card. I told them that I would not get another card. I went try to purchase another card with the first one and that is when I found out that there was no money on the card, that they had already had taken my money.

I rented a truck from Turo and paid $1400.00 for the use of truck from May 20th to June 1st 2012 while I was in Hilo Hawaii. One hour before my flight landed I got a text from the person renting car from that the car was broke needed new tires. He texted find another car.
I called turo many times waited on the phone for hours and eventually was told that there was only one truck available and that was more expensive, I would have to pay $4,500.00 to rent this truck instead of the agreed amount of $1,400. I was upset and asked if they would pay the difference since I had nothing to do with needing of tires for this car. They said the would pay 20% of the difference.
I looked at the new truck on web sight and it looked exactly like the truck I rented. Same color, make and model! I asked if it was same truck and they said no.
I tried to find another truck from someone else and there were none to rent last minute on the big Island of Hawaii.
It has been five days of my trip and still no truck. I am moving to island took time off work to come to Hawaii to buy furniture for my family to return with me at a later date. My trip is ruined and I have lost so much money.

Turo is masquerading as a Share Ride rental company similar to the AirBnB platform for vehicle rentals. They immediately deny your first booking and send a message claiming you are denied due to a negative “Auto Insurance Score” supplied by TransUnion and ask you to remit sensitive information such as photos of your government issued ID, photos of your credit card, photos of your face while holding your ID, a Utility Bill, proof of employment, a pay stub reflecting your SSN and travel itineraries and tickets. BE AWARE. Stay away! Obvious phishing scam.

Used TURO (the AIRBNB of car rental, where you rent other people's car on line). Got to Phoenix and thinking I was renting a nice Camry, turned out the Camry was completely HAIL DAMAGED and the back window was so screwed up I could hardly see out the back window making the car very dangerous. I was on vacation so I just dealt with the scammer who listed the car as a nice Red Camry. Told TURO afterwards and all they did was lock me out so I could not write a review. I told TURO to at least get this car off the road before someone gets killed.
