The rep comes to give you a sales pitch. If you live alone, you are a potential mark for the scam. The rep will do an inventory of everything piece of furniture in the home. The next business day, you are emailed an estimate for boxes only to go to storage. You are instructed to send an email if this estimate is not correct. You send an email that you have certain items to be put into storage. It doesn't matter what you say, the contact log will say you want everything removed from the house. Then the contact log has a note that since you don't know when your house will sell, you only paid one month's rent. I put 5 pieces of furniture and a few boxes into storage and I didn't send an email. I planned to pay 3 months rent. The rental fee was raised so that I could only pay 2 months rent. If I paid all three months, the items in storage could not be held for hostage. When I scheduled the move, I wanted to pay the 3rd month's rent. Two Men & a Truck refused to allow me to pay the last month's rent because they wouldn't be able to hold my items hostage. At the move, they make sure you are alone and then demand very large amounts of money to be put onto you credit card that you used to pay for the taking the items to storage and/or for storage. They steal the credit card number, CVV and your driver's license number when they "get approval for the charge". If you refuse to allow these fraudulent charges to be put on your card, they threaten you with holding your items in storage and increasing the cost for you to get them released. The rent will go up each month for the excessive amount they are requesting until you agree to pay the entire amount. You agree to the current amount so that you can get your items released from storage at the least cost. You are under duress at this time. There is a Florida statute that prohibits you being held responsible for anything you agree to that you wouldn't do normally. However, the credit card companies believe the fraudulent items sent by Two Men & a Truck as support for the charges. You will end up paying the charges then suing in small claims court. The rep's testimony will be perjury and the info in the contact log and the absurd estimates, etc. will be used as proof to the court you owe the money. This scam has been used for many years against many people. They know what to do and when to do it to make sure they get the tax free money from you. Overcharging for everything is common too.
