Type of a scam Online Purchase
A week later, my credit card company sent me an e-mail stating a $56.95 charge had been shown on my credit card and if I approved this transaction. I had NO IDEA what this transaction was and declined approval. My credit card company refused payment for that transaction.
Being suspect to the 'Survey' and past payment I had approved a week earlier ( I only used my CC once in the month of March), I called customer service and asked about status of my "gift" for completing the survey. I was told that "completing the survey entered me into a drawing for a chance to win the pickleball set", and that I hadn't been chosen as a winner. I replied that this was NOT what the implied survey stated and since I wasn't going to receive what I had paid shipping for I wanted a refund of the $7.95.
During this conversation with customer service representative, I inquired if they were responsible for the fraudulent charge applied to my credit card for the $56.95?? The customer service representative stated they DID charge my credit card $56.95 for "Membership into the Club". I explained this charge had been unauthorized by me and my credit card company would decline this transaction. The customer service representative stated that the $7.95 was never received and they would stop payment of the $56.95. I told her the $7.95 already went through a week ago and that they were unable to charge me the $56.95 because I stopped any payments to them through my credit card company.
She got insistent that there never was a $7.95 fee received and she would remove the payment of the $56.95.
The $7.95 in fact has been charged on my credit card. Luckily the $56.95 charge was declined, Bank of America has excellent security safeguards!
Well, if I only lost $7.95 to this scam - lesson learned. I feel that helping companies improve by filling out a survey was helpful, NEVER again.
Please help stop this kind of deceitful scamming ruse, especially when the Dicks Sporting Goods Logo was used making it seem authentic.
Thank you
