A virus message popped up on laptop and said to call 888-549-3243. I called and gave access to my laptop via www.ultraviewer.net. i went to my banking info while they assisted. The told me not to contact my banking or credit bureau. I uninstalled the program but not able to complete factory reset. I called my banking and nothing has been touched so far.

I received an email titled "Your Digital Payment Records HG48T5F7T4G2 79970 799070 of item". The email stated: Hope you are doing well (then stated my email address). At your earlier convenience check out an order-bill #45397888. Thanks a lots. The email included an invoice attachment with the amount of $587.41 USD and product auto renewal information for Mac/Windows users. The invoice had the phone number of 866-278-0783. I decided to call the number and a male person named "Mike" answered the call "customer service" he said ("Mike" had a foreign country accent). When I stated I received a product I didn't order he hung up on me. When I called back the same person answered the phone. I told him not to hang up on me and explained that I wanted to cancel the service I did not order. He proceeded to tell me that I would need to download a cancellation form and had me to to the ultraviewer.net website. He asked me to click on the green download button at the center of the screen. Stupid me did this (I know better too). When I realized the the file I downloaded had an ".exe" extension red flags really started going up. (Apparently, my dumb self didn't see the red flags in the email after so many misspelled words and bad grammar in the email). I then asked him why I needed to install a program to get a cancellation form. He gave me a stupid response I barely remember. I asked again, why couldn't the cancellation form just be emailed me. Again, a bad answer from him and I finally told him I'd be reporting him to the BBB. He said "whatever" and I hung up on him. Needless to say I permanently deleted the file I downloaded - hopefully I didn't damage or expose my computer to anything serious.

I got a blinking alert on my laptop and it said it was a security alert Trojan Spyware. I called the number listed on the alert and a woman directed me to do some things on my computer. I proceded to do so until I got suspicious about what she was asking me to do. When I asked her to verify the information, she hung up and then called back from a different number. I was about to give her access to my laptop when my gut told me something wasn't right. She swore she was from Microsoft. But, while talking to her, I looked online to see if it could possibly be a scam, and it appeared to be.

Basically, it felt like they were fishing for information. They said that someone had hacked my personal computer and used my IP address to watch inappropriate material. They said my land line phone had been compromised, along with my tablet. Peter was the first agent that I spoke to and then he transferred me to the lead tech. I have never had any tech company reach out to me. I call them if need be. They kept me on the line for close to an hour. The senior tech kept going on about hackers and my information being collected and illegal activities and that I could go to jail for. I disconnected the call, the whole thing felt off to me.

I was enrolled in a computer service that if anything went wrong or I needed help in most related problems I could call them 24/7 and they would help me. I paid $350.00 with my debit card from **** bank and the service would be lifetime. Now, the manager (Adam) is telling me I use their system too much and it's costing them money so he wants to push me up to a system that would cost me $1500.00 + . I was only using their system on an average of once a week. He uninstalled the icon I used to get to his site and their address icon that gave their address while I was on the phone with him. It boils down to extorsion on their part. As a senior citizen of 84 I am basically computer illiterate and I need help.

They had control of my computer for 1.5 days posing as the Microsoft security team, saying they were taking off the Trojan virus from my computer. They took all my passwords off of my C drive. They attempted to withdraw money from my $1.2 million in my Amerprise retirement account. They wanted me to give authorization on a recorded line. That is what drew my suspicion, so I hung up the phone.

They tried to use my wife's credit card the same day. I have since changed all my passwords. Attached is a screen shot of the scam they use.

I received a call from Utraviewer.net claiming to work with Geek Squad who said I owed $449 and that they will keep charging me until cancellation or unless I open my computer and let them in.
