Scammer called claiming to be with my health insurance company. She knew my name and my doctor's name and said she was calling to let me know my injection had been approved. Then immediately asked me to verify my birthdate. I asked her name and she said Shannon. She didn't pronounce anything right and kept apologizing and I asked her what injection she was referring to. I just had a telehealth appointment the prior day and a knee injection was discussed. I was basically leading her through the conversation because in reality she had no clue which knee was due for an injection. I felt like something was off especially because it said Optum on the phone when the call came in. I however reluctantly gave her my birthdate. As soon as I did she was in a hurry to end the call. I called my doctor's office to verify and they said they didn't have anything set up yet and for me to contact my insurance company. I did and they verified it was a scam. They informed me to contact my pharmacy and let them know which I did. The scammer basically knew my phone number...my doctor's name and knew that I had injections and knew my insurance provider. All they wanted was my birthdate which they got. When I called the number back you can't reach anyone you have to leave a message. I believe I have been a victim of identity fraud.
