Type of a scam Debt Collections
She stated to call the client that had the collection and gave me the phone #, 855-430-1992 and to try to resolve the debt before she appeared at my door with the summons. I told her that didn't make any sense because she was either supposed to serve me a court summons or not.
Anyway, I called the # she gave me and spoke with a man that advised he was with the United Legal Firm and that I owe Ace Cash Express money for a loan taken out in 2022 for $1300. He knew the last 4 of my ss# and my last address. He stated I could pay them the money owed now and there would be no further collection process. If I did not pay them they would charge me with fraud and that I would be charged with trying to intentionally steal money from Ace and then have to pay $5500.
I advised I was not aware of any previous loan. I also stated that I had not lived at that address for close to 2 years. I asked for the name, address, company website and email for United Legal Firm and he refused to give any info. I asked for a Debt Validation Letter to confirm my debt. He stated they had been mailing them every month. I advised again that I had moved. He did not take my new address to send any correspondence to. He would not answer any of those repeated questions and got very angry the first time I asked for the info. He then stated that he would just forward the information to have me receive a court summons and hung up on me.
I have looked up both phone numbers from above and the name of the supposed law firm. Neither of them yield any GOOGLE search results.
