Type of a scam Online Purchase
Fast forward to about a month later, I received an email from [email protected] saying that the free trial I had started was going to end on September 14th and that if I didn't cancel it I would be charged $89.75 - the same amount as the address change scam. In the email they had my name, my address, phone number, and my debit card number. I knew I had never signed up for anything like that, so I started going back through my old emails to see when it had been started. I found an email from a couple of weeks prior stating that my penny savings whatsaround.me free trial had been started, and in the order details it said "Change of address and new mover services with 30 day free trial (whatsaround.me membership)" which proved they were connected.
If you are lured in by the address change scam and manage to get them to refund your money, don't assume that it stops there and let your guard down. In hindsight I should have changed my card number then and there to prevent future issues like this from happening, but I was naïve and thought that would be the end of it. They are constantly changing their website name and creating new scams to tack onto the address change scam to make it more difficult to be traced and caught, so just beware and take the precautions necessary.
