My business received an official-seeming letter explaining a new reporting requirement that would incur $500 fines per day if not filed. The letter included a notice ID, a filing deadline, and is grammatically correct. It came from the "United States Business Regulations Department" which does not exist. The letter had a support email and web address with URLS that do not match (@brdportal.com and @brd-filing.us). They included a QR code but I didn't scan it. The web address is not valid and there is no physical address for this "department."
