They called me and introduced themselves as University of Miami Hospital and asked for my date of birth. I asked them again exactly who was calling and they said University of Miami Hospital and asked for my date of birth as security, which I did tell them. They then said that I have an outstanding balance of $650 and asked if I was going to make a payment because if not it would get sent to a collections agency. I told them I don't know of a balance of $650, but I do currently have an outstanding balance on which I am on a payment plan and have been making regular payments. After a brief pause she said she saw one payment but it was only on one account. I told her it's the same payments I've been making so I don't see what could have changed. She said she would make a note that I paid and advised me to log in to my account online to check my bills. Since I never created an account and always paid by phone, I called the University of Miami Hospital and they said they have no outstanding balance other than the one that they know I've been making on time regular payments on, and said they have no idea who could have called me as they had no record or note of anyone reaching out to me today. She said they do work with a collections agency but they are in Broward County, and not Georgia. I then called the number back that originally called me and the recording said it was Piedmont Healthcare, but then when someone finally picked up they said University of Miami Hospital. He was unable to explain why it said Piedmont Healthcare and when I asked to speak to a manger or supervisor he said they had all left for the day. He said his name was Shareef Macintosh. I then googled the number and saw that others had reported it as scam calling from Piedmont Healthcare and was acting as a collections agency. Even if they are a collections agency, I don't owe them, they are not affiliated with my hospital, and I have no idea how they got my information, but they seemed eager to get a payment from me.
