There is a very well-thought-out scammer who is posing as a professor - I fell victim to this scam after they used a block M on the check (looks like previous ones I've received from UMICH) to have me print and do a mobile deposit so I can purchase office supplies for a remote job research assistant job posting. After I did that, they asked and I quote " I suggest you cover a part payment for the office supplies so they can be in the office by Monday. You get reimbursed once the deposit comes in this week." Also, the emails were going into my spam account and that should have been a red-flag. So, we have been exchanging emails since July 7th and they appeared to be well-written. Furthermore, as I am typing this I am on the phone with my bank and they indeed said it was a scam and a new scam. The University needs to know about this and this person needs to be aware that her photo and information are being used.
