Calling 1-800-642-4727 will lead to the legitimate National Grid phone service for Upstate NY. However, calling 1-800-624-4727 (24 instead of 42) will lead to a company offering a special promotion to select callers. The company will inform you that you qualify for a free health tracker device (the purpose of the device is to alert the police if a fall/injury occurs). I hanged up after speaking with the second representative and wasn't asked for personal information (first rep just directed me to second rep and second rep wanted me to say "yes" to learning more). To be honest, I'm not certain if its a scam as they didn't press for bank information, but they also were not answering any questions about if they were/weren't national grid and were really interested in getting me to sign up for the promotion. There's no online information about the company and they didn't state a company name so it seems likely that the third rep would press for that banking information (and they seem to be targeting the elderly based on their offer).
