A letter stating my old business that is officially closed for two years now. Threatening that I have a reporting obligation under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) to provide ownership update for the listed business. They threatened us with penalties for non-compliance with civil fines $500 a day and criminal fines up to $10,000 with imprisonment for up to two years. They gave the QR code and website to provide personally identifiable information of the owner, board member, corporate officer or the preparer. However, the URL doesn't work and ends with ‘.us’ domain extension. The letter has a fake logo similar to a government agency. No address was provided, only the phone number and email address.
