Went on Facebook Marketplace under a group called “unwanted cars for sale under $1000” saw a car for sale and I contacted the seller under the name Anthony Smith. We talked and he wanted a $300 down payment as the ad had already asked. I had a funny feeling bc he seemed pushy to get the payment and unfortunately for me I sent the money via Apple Cash. He then told me he would get in touch with me in the morning for my tracking information. He messaged me the next day saying that the delivery service sent me an email to confirm my address before delivery. I did. Got the tracking number. There was a website for tracking under “accurate logistics” Few hours later he messaged me and told me that I needed to contact the delivery company via email. Then they had sent an email asking for $800 for insurance purposes so if the car got damaged then it would be covered. Felt sick over it. My fiancé told me to “trust and have faith in humanity” so, with this sick feeling I had. I sent the money via PayPal. One thing I should have noticed and caught onto was them asking me to send it “family and friends”. I’ve never done that before. But now I know why is because you won’t get your money back because of the cash transfer. Which is ridiculous if you request the transaction to stop. Anyways, after the other $800 I sent I asked “Anthony” if there were any other charges that were going to pop up? I had already asked this in our first original conversation if there were any fees or things that were gonna effect the price. He had ignored all questions I asked. The kicker and where I ended giving out money was “Anthony” telling me to check my email again and they were asking for another $1500!! I told him no. I don’t have that kind of money and if I did I would have just paid for the car outright. Even said he would help with $500 if I could just send them $1000 so my car would get delivered. Still said no. He got mad and told me that he was a man of god and as soon as he could sell the car he would give me my money back. I asked for my money back and “Anthony” said he had to sell the car first and the delivery service said it was against protocol. I asked for the policy and where it said it because I had not signed anything and asked for receipts for everything. Didn’t get another response. Ever since all the Facebook messages with Anthony have been erased on his replies via facebook messenger and all the delivery emails on what they replied to me deleted. Now because of this, a month later my phone service was hacked and my identity stolen. My phone stopped working another phone put on my plan. Three pieces of mail came in with declined cards trying to get taken out under my name and someone tried to purchase $3800 on my card for a MacBook from Apple Inc. I have since frozen my credit.
