I received an email from a Mr. Eric Gremillion indicating that they liked my résumé from LinkedIn and that they wanted to continue an interview. I was then sent an interview questionnaire which I completed and sent back. That same person then texted me and emailed me in order to set up an interview. Most of the interview questions were very easy And had no identifiable information about the business. The person then indicated they would get back to me after review with their colleagues. I got an official letter indicating I was hired at $30 an hour for customer support. And that I would be sent equipment and I had to sign The employment acceptance letter. They then requested an I-9 completion before I was then handed over to my immediate supervisor, Justin Qualls, who then messaged me through Microsoft teams. This is where it gets interesting, I received a long email with instructions indicating I would be mailed out a paper check along with the paper employment application and W-2 forms to be completed. I will then need to deposit said check into my bank account in order to purchase my work equipment from the vendor list, They will also send me through the mail. When I questioned why this was all done through the mail, they said no reason necessarily that they've always done it that way and had no problems. It had been a week until I received information indicating that the check of $2550 was being sent through the United Postal Service and I received a tracking number. My immediate supervisor also asked me who I banked with. When I told him who he said that would not do and that I needed just a "regular bank." He asked me that when I got that new account to also let him know. He then indicated that eventually direct deposit will be set up but whenever I did start, I would receive paper checks. They also indicated that in that first paper check of that $2550 was my first week of training, which was mine to keep. Mind you this is before anything has been completed. The only information they had at this point was my I-9, which unfortunately had all my identifying information. Thankfully, I located, on this scam website, Another person indicating that they spoke to the same person and that they unfortunately cashed this check into their bank account and that it was immediately returned and marked as fraudulent. Unfortunately, that person lost $500. Without their help and reading this, I would've deposited that check into my account as well.

This organization will contact you as a nonprofit organization, and after proceeding with typical new employee tasks such as signing W2 forms, they will send you a check for equipment. After, they will ask you to send incremental payments through Cashapp. The recipients of said payments are accounts that have been created a year prior, and sending large sums of money will prompt Cashapp to alert you of fraudulent activity on their end. They will also try to use Zelle and even suggest wire transfer.

I received a text message claiming to be an employer from a job I applied to on indeed.com and they has seen my resume.

The message invited me to fill in application for mail room clerk but with a virtual assistance position available as well.

I am disabled and the job offer was perfect for my mobility abilty.

I was interviewed over text message and then emailed a employment contract which i reviewed and signed.

I was told that my training equipment for the virtual assistant job would arrive on laptop. The funds to purchase this equipment would come via a check, from one of this company's vendor; this check included my paid training pay, of $500. It would arrive via overnight fedex. I was to deposit into my account and forward funds to vendor for training equipment.

The check was instantly returned for fraud and I immediately informed bank of me being scammed. They noted it on account.
