I made a profile on Upwork to be a virtual assistant freelancer. This character, "Latosha Ross" responded to me. She asked for my cell phone to discuss the job and while texting, I found it odd that she never wanted a phone call. She sent me to look at her website "urbanprices" which was "under maintenance" and seemed a little sloppy and illegitimate. She then asked for my email to send me more information on the job and she requested my PayPal and promised to pay me way above what I am worth. Too good to be true, for one, but also it is against Upwork's policy to work outside of Upwork's website. Upwork states that someone asking for you to work outside of Upwork should be considered fishy, especially if they ask for account info. I mentioned this to "Latosha" and she argued that Upwork was "too expensive" and made her jump through too many hoops. I see a red flag calling Upwork expensive when she offered to pay me so much money, and also... Upwork is NOT expensive. They take a small percentage. With all of this I googled "is urban prices legitimate" which took me to a forum where people like me posted about other characters selling the same job. A lot of the scripts posted on this scam forum were exactly what I was being texted and emailed. I hope the ScamPulse.com can make a post to save people who may fall victim to the scammers hiring from this fake website. The example document I attached was her arguing that Upwork was not a good idea for business. I have much more proof however.
