This government grant scam has been used on me before and I had so many issues as a result of it. I really believe this is the very same initial phone call that started so many problems. Several weeks ago someone was able to get into my Facebook account as a result they were able to change my Gmail account. It took me awhile to sort it out. New phone. But it's not so easy to cut ties with your Gmail without syncing accounts. Still working that out. But now I get this call telling me about the grant money the government owes me I've been chosen ( lucky me ). Well he told me my email my address and of course my phone number. They assume things only the government would have access to. I agreed and then asked him for his phone number what the name of the business was. I was surprised the phone call was from Carrollton Texas. That is local to me. It was clearly a man of Indian nationality. His name was Steve Johnson. I immediately called the Carrollton number back. Disconnected. The number he gave me I called back and a Australian man answered hello. Not even a business. I didn't say anything I immediately came to this site and I don't think a phone number is much to go on it pulls up to be somewhere in North America.

I received a phone call yesterday from (701)-407-1017 regarding a student loan forgiveness program. I called them back and was on the phone with a man named Ronald Duran for approximately an hour. He asked me if my phone number was linked to my fasfa account, it was not. Then he asked for my email, to see if it was associated and it was. He told me he was going to change my password to get in to look at all of the information he needed to help set me up with the student loan forgiveness program. I received an email with a pin that he had me read to him to reset my password. From there he had access to all of my private information and asked me to verify and update anything if needed. He then sent me a "Document preparation and Service Agreement" form to sign virtually. I signed it and submitted it through app.livesigner.com. He needed more information such as my pay stubs, and I told him I would get back to him on that. He told me there would be four installment payments of $249, and then it would go down to $51.17 after the installments were paid. I cancelled my debit card within a 24-hour time period, so I have not had any money taken from me as of right now. However, I am worried they will use my personal information for identity theft.

I started “working” with US Financial since October of 2021. It initiated as a phone call about being an potential applicant for a student loan forgiveness program where about ~95% of my loans where to be forgiven with me having to pay 199.95 monthly for 5 months and then paying about ~11.15 for approximately 120 months. I made my first 4 payments and then I realized they are a scam. No payment was put in into my FSA, they had no recollection of any of this conversation or of this “program”, that’s when I knew it was a scam. They take control of your loan service account and pocket the money, they change your password by typing in your email and date of birth, whilst you recite the code without noticing what you’re doing. I’ve already contacted my bank and my loan servicer, changed everything so that they have no access. Do not fall for this scam, they do not want to help you, they just want to steal money from desperate people. I spoke to James and Mason Alexander, their emails are [email protected] & [email protected]. Their contact numbers are 8662467309, 9496522160 & 9492984443. This organization should not be running, they don’t attend to your needs, phone calls never go in (either says it’s not in service or a sketchy computer recording) and they pocket your money, there is no program involved, it is all a scam.

U.S. Financial is not a real company. I got a call from Paul Avery at 413-444-1280 (Bernardston, MA) which I'm sure was just rerouted through that number. I'm not going to give you the whole story for time's sake, but it was about a 30 min phone call, he was kind, actually. The whole time we were talking, I got emails from US Dept of Education stating my information was updated and password changed. I still don't know if those are real emails, or fake ones designed to trick you into logging in. He asked me to sign a document, which I did, unfortunately I don't know what they are going to do with it, so there's that. Recently I had applied for student loan forgiveness through Nelnet, so I thought this was an associated company. I should have known when he said "I've got a bunch of numbers for you, go ahead and write them all down and we'll go over them" which is a sales tactic. I did end up giving them my card information, which is red flag number two. When I realized it was too good to be true later that evening, I called my bank, froze my account, and requested a new card. Hopefully that is all they were trying to take from me. If you fell victim to this elaborate scam, don't feel stupid. Paul was good. Just take care of it before they take your first payment.

I was called by +1 (866) 417-4192 saying I was eligible for student loan forgiveness and that today was the last day to enroll. I returned the call and spoke with a “Bryan Diaz” who had information regarding my federal loans, including amounts and interest rates. He asked about my income and said I was eligible for student loan forgiveness. He told me that right now I was scheduled for a monthly payment of $138.45 for 120 months, totaling $4583 in interest and $16614 repaid in total. Then he told me I was approved for a pay as you earn agreement, that would cost $249 a month for 4 months to cover enrollment fees, following by 240 months of $37.50, saving me $2035 on my principal and $4583 in interest.

I had to sign a contract and then hung up with him. Soon after, I got an email from a “Kayla Herrera” requesting pay stubs and a 1040A tax form. When I looked at the contact information in the email, I realized that the company didn’t have a website, the address provided is actually that of a dentist office, and when I tried to email the “customer support email” to request a cancellation and refund, the email couldn’t be delivered because the address did not exist.
