Received a voicemail from Dennis over at US Standard calling about a Priority Overnight Package and asking for a call back. I did not answer this call because I suspected that it was a scammer. It came up as phone number (804) 535-3677 on my cell phone, but "Dennis" said that he would be there until 4 o'clock and asked me to call him back at (855) 484-0209. I never heard of this company nor was I expecting any deliveries! Immediately, my BS sensor went off! It had the typical markings of a scam - general vagueness and urgency to call back about a "Priority Overnight Package". After doing a Google search, it most definitely appears to be a scam despite the White Pages stating that these numbers are Low Spam Risk! I am not calling back! I felt it to be my civic duty to post this as a warning to others and to hopefully catch these SOB's!

I was scammed by U.S. Standard. I moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles in early September 2021.Ray Alexander the sales guy lied to me about everything. Ray said U.S. Standard is not a broker but they are. Ray said U.S. Standard will move me but they did not. Ray said I will get my own truck and explained that inventory square footage doesn't matter. Ray lied. Ray Alexander gave me an estimate of $4,334.00 and collected $1,378.00 in cash but in the end I had to pay $8,000 in cash or subcontractor mover would not deliver my stuff. U.S. Standard is notorious for giving you a very low estimate and then charging you 2 - 3 times more after you are moved. U.S. Standard subcontracted my move to Elk Moving and Hauling and Elk subcontracted an independent mover with a rental truck and no moving crew. At pick up and deliver, the mover sat on the phone calling around and trying to find moving crew. The pick up and delivery each took an entire day and the mover refused to deliver my stuff unless he was paid $8,000 in cash. The mover held my stuff after loading the truck hostage for two days until he was paid $8,000 in cash. The mover never gave me his name and never gave me a receipt. Obviously this is illegal but you are dealing with charlatans. This is HWY rubbery. Ray Alexander never returned my calls after he collected the deposit. This is theft and I was rubbed. Keep in mind your deposit is nonrefundable and there is nothing you can do to get a refund. Ray Alexander assured me they are bonded and insured but after the movers broke and damaged my furniture, it turned out they did not have insurance.
