Type of a scam Phishing
Me: (Recognizing the pattern for this kind of scam right away. ) This is who from what again?
Lady: US Standard... (she starts fast talking again, intending to make me believe we buy products from them)
Me: (she's still talking. I talk louder) We don't do business with you.
Lady: Well, you're on our thank you list so... (more fast talking. She was trying very hard to tell me I was about to get a beeyootiful prize of some kind)
Me: No. Gotta go. (hang up)
I Googled the business name and the ScamPulse.com report is in the first few results. I read several just for fun.
Their game is to fast talk some poor unsuspecting employee into accepting delivery of products (carefully implied to be free samples or prizes without actually saying the words) and then sending an invoice for a ridiculously high price. They say, "we never use the word sample!" "We recorded the conversations!" "We had someone call to confirm the terms!".
They won't take the items back and cancel the invoice unless you report them to BBB. It's a carefully constructed scam machine.
It's interesting that this business responds to every one of the many dozens of ScamPulse.com complaints attempting to defend their legitimacy.
