Total money lost $379
Type of a scam Tech Support
me different options to rectify the problem. He recommended Network Firewall Security with different levels of security, depending on what I used my computer for. He asked what I usually use my computer for. After describing this to him, I chose option #2 at $379. As he was working on my computer, I became uncomfortable with the whole conversation and logged out of the session. He called and said that if I interrupted the session, it could cause my computer to crash.I told him I wanted to call and check with the Better Business Bureau or Best Buy (where I purchased the computer and key card) instead. But he said not resuming the session could cause it to crash. Since he also tried the key code, and could not get my key card to work either, he said he would use what he called a "master key". I could see the name for this key code was Robert Purvis. I also saw email address of [email protected]. I asked him who that was, and he said it was his boss. He downloaded Office 365 Personal, and whenI could see the word document screen, it showed the initials RP in the top, left hand corner. I asked him about this and he told me"that will change to your initials in about a week."
Lastly, he told me that I must submit payment immediately. I told him I wanted to confirm the legitimacy of the company first, but he said he could loose his job if I didn't pay now. He repeated this over and over, insisting that he had spent much time and that I could see the work he was doing. Yes I could, and tried to stop him by logging out of the session, but that is when he called back saying this could cause my computer to crash. I told him I wanted to check to make sure the business was legitimate before submitting payment, that I was feeling coerced and uneasy about the whole experience.
I feel this company coerced me into buying something I did not need. I just wanted my Microsoft Office downloaded, that's all. I had already paid Best Buy for it. I have spoken to Best Buy Support, and they asked me to go to their website and submit customer feedback, which I did today. Is there anything
the ScamPulse.com can do to help me with this? I am leery of using my computer for transactions now, and would like a refund from
this US tech info LLC. I do not want to call them myself because I do not trust them at all. I feel I was duped into purchasing something I DID NOT NEED.
