The scammer used an internet page that resembles the IRS and claiming to deal with official tax matters. I gave them my social security number to set up a PLLC. Also gave credit card information. When I called to cancel a lady rudely said I cannot help you and hung up quickly on being questioned. She also left me on hold to appear “busy” .

I am starting a new business and went on line to get an EIN. I thought I was clicking onto the IRS website and filled out the application thinking I was on the website. I paid $249 thinking that was the application fee. I realized after when the website continued to try and get more money from me that it was not the IRS.
