The person sees the yard sign showing house has alarm system and claims to be from the same company or a service provider for the panel brand the company uses. Claims to want to upgrade alarm panel with newer model (especially the touch screen). Tries to gain entry into the house. There has been no contact between you and your alarm system provider, person shows up randomly. If you call your provider they will NOT know who this person is, get a tag number and call police. The most common form of the scam involves obtaining a signature after the panel swap, which will likely be a lengthy and expensive service contract with a third, unaffiliated party from your current alarm provider. I will assume the contract text is too small to easily read and/or your signature is requested so the person can get paid for the panel swap. The whole thing is a scam.
