Type of a scam Debt Collections
Yes, I filed bankruptcy (sad but true) back in 2001 in the bankruptcy court of Montana, but that was mostly due to exorbitant medical bills AND a home I owned that my renters turned into a meth lab and I was so traumatized by that experience, I just wanted to walk away. But I didn't tell him any of that. (That's a whole 'nother sad story)
Anyway, I further explained that I had closed the bank account he was referring to back in 2001, yet he claimed I had made a payment from that account in 2006. I insisted that was not possible. Perhaps it was a case of identity theft. He coldly insisted it was me. Wow! So basically, calling me a liar without saying the words. I opened an account with my local credit union in 2001 and since that time I have made every effort to rebuild my credit and my current FICO score is 814! He went on to tell me that the lawyer who handled my bankruptcy did not pay off my debts and is now deceased. (A story he has told multiple times to other victims of his scam).
I asked him the name of the "deceased" lawyer and where he had been located. He told me the lawyer's name was Lawrence Hecker located in New Jersey. Um, NO! WRONG! My bankruptcy was handled by a Montana attorney!
"Larry" just continued to argue with me and said he would have to go forward with collection. But then he said, "***, I have one question for you. If I lower this debt to $1,000, would you be willing to pay it off today?" I firmly and loudly replied, "NO!" Then I asked for his address. He hung up on me.
I then went to the Better Business Bureau's website and found MULTIPLE complaints about USI. What a load of crap! With all the complaints filed with the BBB, Why is this man not in jail already?!
