I received a text message saying that I won an iPad in a sweepstakes I had entered. When I clicked the link, it told me I only had to pay shipping and answer a few questions about iPads which I did. It stated the iPad would arrive within 72 hours and it never did. When I called the customer service, The woman couldn’t find any information about me and told me that she worked in a call center for a company that represents many different marketing companies. It all made things sound very sketchy and less legitimate. She also had me hold for a long time for no reason. I decided to read the privacy policies and the “fine prints” on that website and it turns out anyone can go to that website and click on the link that makes it appear that you won an iPad. The policies were very generic and said nothing about entering the sweepstakes or winning an iPad, but that you had paid 11.67 not for shipping and handling of your iPad, but for a trial of a membership for a book reading website called bingeworthydigitalread.com. And in 31 days you would pay 76.67 for this membership and it would be a monthly reoccurring payment for this membership.

I decided to see what the site was about. Anyone can log into that site once you create a username with or without membership. on top of that everything is very generic and basic but the initial landing page looks like a legit reading website. however, there are only like 10 books listed. if you click on any of the books it only redirects you to one book called “The Morning Ritual” and I think that book is fake as well. It has no author. So everything is misleading and leads to something it is not. It’s definitely a big scam
