This “company” emailed me saying that I had applied and to contact them via Telegram for an interview. I had never heard of this company before so I googled them and saw that it was a real company and the name they used, Trent May entry, did actually work there so I gave it a shot. It was a chat message interview, red flag, and then they said I had the job after not asking for my resume, any references, or to do a background check. The position was for a Customer Service Representative doing some accounting. They said I needed a specific laptop, computer, and all of these other supplies including software and that I had to go through a specific vendor. Here’s where the suspicion really kicked in, they said they’d send me a check to deposit in my account to purchase the supplies. We’re talking thousands of dollars in their supply list. Who would send a random person that much money. Final red flag was when they sent me the offer letter and W 4 by email and the persons email address was a gmail extension not a company extension. Needless to say did not send that paperwork in. If something sounds too good to be true it usually is. Will keep monitoring my credit report even though they didn’t get all my PII.
