I saw a job posting on indeed for data entry in my state. I wanted to apply so when I did I was transferred to The Washington Post Jobs site to fill out a short application. About weeks later I receive a text to my phone number to add [email protected] on Google Hangouts for an interview. I never had this type of interview but I was open to the idea because of the job position. Throughout the "interview" over Google Hangouts I answered questions about qualifications about job experience and banking payroll. I was sent an email claiming I was offered the position. I signed the letter and scanned the document and sent it back to the above email address. Everyday after that the conversation stayed the same and I told the same text like a recording. I was told a check was supposed to arrive and I deposit it. I started getting annoyed and curious to why this was starting to feel fake. I arrived on the Hangouts app for our routine 8 am chat and was told asked if I had a printer to print the check and I replied I thought FedEx was delivering it a week ago. After that the conversation ended with the check coming FedEx. After that conversation I decided to delete the app and not continue returning any messages. I received two checks in the mail and quickly realized they are not accurate to what was talked about in our conversations and after doing my own research on fake check and the two seemed to be so similar to other stories on the internet.
