I was approached by multiple people from the same specific culture who are identifiably not American selling tickets for an American “organization” to which I found out have the goal to get people like myself to apply for “awards” and get “nominated” to be accepted and they ask you to fill out an application form- with very simple questions. You get excited to hopefully get the nomination, but as you further investigate this ploy which I did, you have to pay thousands to attend regardless of whether you win or don’t- it is a clear scam to make money off of individuals they scout on social and professional networking platforms such as LinkedIn.

There are no reputable people working for the organization or people that they pick to present their academic work.

These people are connected to the “recruiters” and are absolutely not academics or reputable in any way by a professional body.

They continue to call and email me about submitting my application and are aggressive in their tactics doing it every other day as to not appear obvious, and have admitted to collecting money via phone.
