I innocently clicked on a website selling mini dachshund puppies and I received a phone call in minutes, then an email with the dog price plus shipping. My husband sent money via Venmo and instantaneously we received a large sum of money from another person with "thermal crate for Stacey" in the comment. We googled the thermal crate and immediately saw puppy internet scams. Before this we attempted to send the money back but for some reason it did not go. When I accused the dog lady of being a scammer she said she would send our money back. Then we got a phone call from a woman ( who sounded Indian although the person she claimed to be was clearly Asian and when I questioned her she said she was Russian) saying the crate was legitimate. On Monday someone was attempting to hack our bank account and Venmo account was frozen. This woman emailed, called and constantly texted me demanding her money back (although it was from another person). I attempted to contact the original sender with no response. The dog lady was texting me that puppies were going to die if we did not send her money back. I explained that our accounts were frozen and being investigated. Finally we blocked her number and now we are just waiting to hear back from Venmo. This has been a nightmare.
