I posted an ad for a vehicle that I am trying to sell and this scammer texted to get some information on it. They then asked for a vehicle history report so I sent them the car fax report to their email. This is when it turned, they responded angrily saying that they need it to come from vehtrustlab. I called them out on being a scam and had some fun with that. So after doing real research the website they wanted me to go to was registered this past week, it’s barely built out and has a lot of mistakes. The whole scam is to message everyone listing vehicles and then have them all pay for that report, but they are actually just sending the scammer money and the scammer is getting their credit card info.

Listing my car to sell on Craigslist and contacted by an individual saying they needed a car history report prior to buying but needed to be from a specific website.

Selling a vehicle, potential buyer asks for you to obtain a vehicle history report from an attached website. Seems like a legit request and website looks real, but they want $15 or $20 per report. They take your credit card info and your money and you never receive a report nor hear from potential buyer again.
