I'm selling my car and got a text from 1-734-579-6437. The guy said his name was Axel and after a few questions about the car he would talk to his wife, but he was ready to buy it and agreed to meet at a bank near my home. He then said "You as the seller can get a history report and window sticker, just click on the link he texted me" (gettitleaudit.com). It would only take about 5 minutes, and he was waiting for the reports. After looking into that website, I found it was listed as a suspicious website. I told him this and that I would send the VIN, and he could run a Carfax (I had not sent the VIN yet). That is when he went silent. This guy was trying to scam me into giving this website my credit card info so they could charge my card. Who knows how much they would have really charged on it.

Got mail. Opened. Said I owned a certain car. I have never owned that type of car. No return address. knew it was a scam. Looked the number up. Results mentioned it was a scam. No website. No address. The letter was about a vehicle service contract on my vehicle that was going to run out and I should call them and have my VIN and mileage ready for them.

I placed an ad to sell my RV. He contacted me and asked me to get a MEG report. I refused and sent him the VIN number so he could get it himself but he keeps insisting - so i think its just a site they use to get your financial info

Posted a vehicle for sale on Facebook marketplace. The scammer contacted us through text message. The scammer was pretending to be interested and actually purchasing the vehicle. He said he wanted to look at the title report and sent a link to a website to purchase one. Then he was asking for us to go back to that site and purchase a sticker also for the vehicle. The company also called us and was attempting to get us to purchase a sticker at the same time. This was definitely a scam to steal money.

Just got a text from this guy for a car I listed for sale. Said he wanted to get it for his wife for her birthday. Total scam. He even tried to set up a time to come look at the car but never showed up

Selling a vehicle, they say they want you to run a vehicle check before they buy, i was high pressed to do this, looked into it and found it is a scam, take you Credit card info, and are 2 weeks new.

My son was trying to look up VIN information on a vehicle he is interested in. We went through our state's Motor Vehicle division. They provided links to third party providers which charged for their services. We then did a general web search on how to look up VIN info, selected onlinedatareports.com. The site has you fill in info as to what you are looking for, then states, 1.00 for report. This was very typical of the other sites, however they were charging higher amounts. Debit card info was entered, was debited for 28.95 and was provided an incomplete report that was texted to the phone number I provided. I immediately contacted the live chat and confronted them, they then reversed the debit and credited the bank account immediately. They also said that they would cancel the account they had us create in order to receive the report and provided a reference number: 5567828. My son did receive a fraud alert form the bank and is replacing the debit card used for this transaction. During the live chat they said they were a legitimate company, and I was provided with their official name of carhistory.online.

Asked to go to website to pay for a vehicle report

- Parker, AZ, USA

Requested a vin report for $1 and after I accepted immediately before receiving my report a $1 charge a $29.95 charge followed then the next day I get charged 4.95 for another site I never visited that is run by same company but under name " findtheirrepirt.com" I went to live chat to request they cancel my info because there were unauthorized charges being attempted and they asked me for my card number and name and zip code and I told them no but I did give them my purchase order receipt # and they told me they had no access to cancel unless I gave them my personal info. That they could not access my order by receipt #. !?

Payment page to look at a VIN for free, then charged $1 to see the report previously advertised to be free then proceeded under false and deceptive means to charge me $29.95.

Contacted me about a car for sale from Craigslist and said they wanted to buy in the next 10 days. Asked for a more specific location and a date to meet. Then asked for a NRV. When I asked what that was, they told me to go to national vehicle check.com and get a report. Lots of excuses about being 4 hours away and having to take off work to come look at the car so they wouldn't come until I sent them that report. I offered to send the VIN number so they could pull the report themselves and they went dark.
