I was initially contacted by Velocity Pack LLC for a work from home cargo checker on Oct 17, 2024. This initial email went to my spam, so I was unaware of it. I received a text message then a phone call after this. I figured it was legit because around the time I was in pursuit of employment through indeed. After contact I was set up to conduct a phone interview for a supervisor who went over the hiring process and explained my position in detail. After this phone call I receive next steps for hiring which included a contract, W4, and login in credentials for employee log in. In all I sent my photo ID for identification purposes, SSN because I filled out the W4, and my address as well because I would be receiving shipment of packages to my home address. I was informed that I would be on salary so I would be getting paid by weekly and my first payment would be paid around November 20th, 2024. In the meantime, I did receive packages (3 to be exact) 1 gold necklace, 2 arm styled backpacks, and a tablet in which I refused to pick up. I refused to pick this package up from a local pick-up station because they wanted me to fraudulently do so. They sent the package in another person's name and then sent me a picture of her ID on a signed and notarized PDF. I declined pick up because that seems unsafe and fraudulent. After this I was supposed to be getting paid and when the time came, I reached out to the chain of command Manager, Incoming Package Supervisor, and Outgoing Package Supervisor. I haven’t heard a word from anyone since then so I concluded that my information must have been stolen, and this job was a scam.
