I received a response from someone wanting to buy an item I listed on Facebook Marketplace. He wanted to send me the money via Venmo. It was for $75.00. I received an email from Venmo that he had sent the money, and told him I got it. He then wanted my email and my address to pick it up. I did send those, against my better judgement. Then he said he was going to send another $100.00 via Venmo because they had told him that I wasn't a business and that's what was needed to upgrade my account. He said I would have to send him the $100.00 back. I told him that sounded fishy and he referred me to a Venmo email address that was: [email protected]. That's when I got suspicious because that's not Venmo's email. So, not only was he trying to scam me, but they had an entire fake Venmo business set up to approve their transactions!
