We purchased a compact tractor for $9000 through AutoTrader from a woman named Marie Girard: [email protected]. She had to arrange the transaction using a shipper called Venta Maffey Corp (VMC) since she lived in Quebec and her father's farm is in Ontario. She claimed her father had died and she needed to help sell the tractor. We made the payment to VMC through a Global Money Transfer and the payment was completed on April 20, 2021. We just received an email from VMC, copying Marie, that the payment didn't go through. I looked up scams under these names and one came up on the same day for a motorhome sale. I contacted my bank to investigate the fraud.
