I signed up for direct TV because I could no longer afford Spectrum. I also needed an internet service they transferred over to an internet provider that was only offered to SNAP recipients which did not apply to me. Two minutes after I hung up I get this call from some one making out they were affiliated with direct TV. They offered me internet for $39.99 a month total cost for life. I said sign me up. Now I find out they are a separate company cause they want all the same info I just gave to direct TV. Ok I get my first bill for $68. and I call and talk to a woman in a supervisory position and I tell her how I feel a mistake has been made. We talked over 30 minutes to try and resolve this problem. She told me she would try to get me out of the 2 year contract I had signed. Now My fourth bill is up to $87 plus $10 for the equipment. These people have lied and misrepresented themselves. I honestly believe I am not the only one they have done this to. I am a disabled senior citizen and I don't think it is right that I now have to pay $300 to get out of this contract that I signed on a notepad and never had a copy of. They never said the price was not $39.99 or that I would have to pay an extra $10 for equipment when I signed but they did explain about the $15 a month I would have to pay if I left before my 2 years was up. I do believe this is a scam and it is being perpetrated on others. This should not be allowed. I figure I am over paying at least $60 a month now
