Vibrant Estimating Data Entry Scam

Found the job listing for data entry on Indeed. Applied a couple of weeks ago. I got an e-mail from [email protected] saying my application was approved. I was then asked to download Telegram to conduct a purely text interview with one Mr. Williams. It seemed like a fairly ordinary interview with no red flags, though it was clear he was copying and pasting the questions. I didn’t think it was too strange.

After some amount of time and having provided my full name, address, e-mail, phone number, and bank name, I was hired and told to fill out and mail an I-9 and W-4 form. I looked this job up while waiting and saw several reports that it was a scam, so I politely confronted the interviewer about it. He insisted I tell him what people were saying, and I insisted he provide the company’s privacy policy, which I asked for earlier on and he never addressed.

Eventually he deleted the conversation and blocked me.

The position posted was for a Data Entry Remote job. They offer roughly around $27/hr after 1 week of training.

They started by emailing me saying they would like to complete and interview and to confirm and get more details, download telegram and text their HR. They want to do a texting interview through Telegram, an app. They specify no phone calls, video chats, or any other apps, only texting. Their website has grammar errors. They “hired” me the same night without a verifications done. They want to mail all the documents to me including the I9 which is not legal. I must physically or virtually show my I9 documentation, not just mail it in. I asked them many questions to ensure the legitimacy of the position and their only response was that I should not have applied and should decline offer. I then asked how they plan to receive my I9 Documentation since it is illegal to mail it back and forth and they have not responded to me at all.

I saw an add on indeed so I applied. A few days later, (today) the reached out saying I had made it to the next step for interviews. Download this app and spoke to a Mr. Williams. At first all seemed normal. Told me about the company, the job. Great. It got to payment and he said I could be paid via direct deposit or a check. But which bank institution did I use? I told them chase and he responded with oh we don’t bank with them and you can’t cash a check there. (That was a new one for me. ) so I continued to ask where am I supposed to cash a check if that’s how I choose to get paid? I was then asked what is my problem, and then completely blocked.
