There appears to be a scam going around under Cullens’ Babyland name. Be forewarned, artists. I am a photographer and a “Patrick Lubreck” contacted me (through the photo community site VIEWBUG.com) wanting to use a photo of mine for a painting he was commissioned to do for a “Cullens Babyland” project. He promised me that I would get $500 on the front end and another $300 when completed. I was very surprised to be sent a check immediately for $1000 (from a Ms Linda Lynn, who is obviously involved in the scam.) Mr. Lubreck then wanted me to immediately send back $500 of my own money for his “art supplies” to start his project. He was quite adamant and eventually condescending. I assured him that there was no way in hell that I was gonna send him $500 of my own money UNLESS the check cleared… per my suspicions, it did not. He was oddly aggressive and very ambiguous about any info I was requesting of him… which initially raised my suspicions AND EVENTUALLY CAME TRUE. I only ever had text conversations with him as I wanted to make sure that I had all of this in writing. (He’d DID try to call me several times, though, which I never answered.) Warning to all… especially photo artists… To be on the lookout for this scam. (I can’t speak to the REAL Cullens Babyland’s legitimacy and and quality, as I know nothing about them. They seem to be victims in this as well.)
