Responded to Craigslist ad re. 2008 Bobcat S175. Contacted by a woman claiming to be a doctor (Rebeca Farinas), selling this for her now retired husband. I believe they used a real doctor's name, so I could verify myself with a google search. She wanted my email to communicate off of Craigslist. She explained the machine is sold through a third party consignment named Izaberi Marine. She explained the process, part of which, is that the seller places their own ads. Consignment in New York, but shipping is free for the first 500 miles, so her son placed multiple ads within or near that distance. Extra charge per mile, over the 500. We are in Michigan. I registered on izabarimarine.com as a buyer, and was then contacted by phone (cell phone), by someone named Jason Edwards. I completed paperwork, and then wired the funds. I received communication by emails through the successive steps. I tried to call to confirm the shipping status, and never got a person. When the written delivery deadline was approaching, I tried to call again, never got through to a person. Received nothing. Numerous things in place made them seem legit, including over 13 sites with testimonials. Once I started digging, it was right there all along. I was busy, tired of searching for a bobcat, this was a good deal, and they made it easy (especially the 7 day free return policy, seller pays costs for return if not satisfied). A little more effort up front would've saved me from losing money to scammers. Ie. I called property mgt for their location, and verified that they did not have an office there; I tried to click links on the testimonial sites, and the buttons didn't work, because it was an entire fake site; I found this same scam with same terms, dating back several years, they just keep changing the names of the players :(
