Vivint contacted me via text implying that ADT was suggesting we upgrade our home security system at no extra cost because new systems require 5G. The sales person did not say he was representing ADT, but finessed things by saying ADT was switching to new equipment from Vivant and required the paperwork. Luckily, the installer made sure we were aware that he was not from ADT and saw no reason to change our system. This gave us time to contact ADT to confirm they did not arrange for this and told us some customers let them know that they started receiving two bills, one from ADT and another from the new company and had no way to cancel either one at that point.
We were able to cancel Vivint before the equipment was installed, but I wanted to let you know that this type of scam is very convincing to seniors like myself (I am 73).who trust name-brand security companies and makes us easy victims. We assume Vivint will not try to enforce the contract, but you will receive another complaint if they do.
