The individual made contact with me starting 9 October 2018 about 12:38 pm about a job opportunity to work from home. We went from an ordinary text messaging to text through Google Hangouts. I should have know that this was a scam from the beginning, especially since I receive offers for different things through texting and I never answer. Well, we went through an interview and eventually was given a job, but, was told that I had to purchase 5 $100 Amazon gift cards from Walmart. The gift cards weren't at Walmart, so I was instructed to purchase iTune gift cards for the same amount. I was stopped by the clerk and told that it was a scam. I eventually told the individuals that I was not making any purchases until they send me the necessary paperwork saying that I had the job and the hiring packet along with a check to purchase the necessary software. So, now, I have the check and I have talked to the Tega Cay Police Dept to see what else can be done. I just want to share here so that people are made aware of these scammers. I have attached the texts from Google Hangouts also.
